I Made A Jarvis

October 13th, 2008 | 4 comments

Last weekend I was watching Iron Man when a brilliant idea hit me. Tony Starks, played by Robert Downey Jr., is a technological genius. What impressed me was his Artificial Intelligent butler named Jarvis. I got goosebumps while watching Starks interact with him. Starks would give him commands and converse with him. Jarvis would complete the task or give Starks feedback. It was absolutely fascinating and seeing it made me want it. So I set out to build my own Jarvis.

Good Reading

LifeHacker has an interesting post full of books that have changed peoples lives. Readers of the blog nominated books and LifeHacker tallied the votes. No surprise that The Bible is number one, of coarse more praise then it should receive. Interestingly, at a very close second was the works of Ayn Rand’s. As an Ayn Rand follower, its good to see others are reading her but I always find it interesting that everyone has read her books though rarely anyone practices her philosophy. Other books include The Stranger by Camus, works by George Orwell, and two books by the biologist and quite possibly the smartest scientist since Darwin, Richard Dawkins. His books The selfish Gene and The God Delusion both made the list and I would agree that they are excellent reads.

Is Google Making You Stupid?

June 11th, 2008 | 2 comments

Finally. I was afraid that I was the only one. Nicholas Carr wrote an interesting piece in the Atlantic Monthly, stating that his ever increasing dependance of the quick speedy information highway is making him stupid. Mainly it is chipping away at his capacity for concentration and contemplation and that it may have an affect on our future society.

Hipster Rebuttal

October 19th, 2007 | 1 comment

Ok, Justin is over exaggerating here because I have only dragged him into Urban on 2 separate occasions and I knew what I wanted each time (I wasn’t browsing). He is also over exaggerating about the emails as well, I hardly ever forward him emails like the one shown in his post. If anything he is the master of email forwards at work!! Quite the distraction.

Justin’s Face Fur

October 7th, 2007 | 4 comments

Ok, sooo I brought this upon myself. I placed a little bet, if you will, a few weeks ago with Justin. I basically dared him to grow out a mustache and mutton chops, thinking it would be a very embarrassing process and experience for him. So a few days go, by days become weeks, and Justin’s face starts to transform into this massively bear-like hairy head. Although he didn’t stick with the chops he did keep the mustache. Eventually I asked him to shave it, I gave up, he won. I’m sorry but i couldn’t help myself, it was too painful to watch (let alone touch). Every time i look into his eyes all I could see was……well, a visual is always worth a thousand words. See for yourself ladies and germs.

Celebrity twin and favorite memories

August 20th, 2007 | 3 comments

Ok, I’m going to use this post to rag on yours truly, Mr. Justin Leavitt =)

Three questions for everyone (and myself):
1) Which celebrity does Justin remind you of (either physically or in personality) and why?
2) What is your favorite memory of Justin?
3) What single word would describe Justin?

1) Justin definitely reminds me of a young Lewis Black due to his cynicism and “know-it-all” mannerisms…he also leans towards the negative side (although he’d have you believe he’s being a ‘realist’).

2) I have a lot of good memories, but I’d have to say that i really enjoyed those late night chats while smoking cigarettes on his fire escape in South Williamsburg (when we were “friends”) and listening to the sounds of the Brooklyn night (mainly Spanish music blaring and cars honking)…followed by wine and vinyl and late night debates.

3) Rock.
