República Dominicana Photos
Finally I was able to take a break from NYC. A vacation that was way over due. I have recently returned from the Dominican Republic. The only interesting thing to talk about was the process I had to go through just to get there. Our plane was scheduled to leave at 6:15AM. Since we needed to get there 3 hours early for international flights we left at 2AM and got to Newark Airport a half hour later. After check-in we were notified that the plane will be delayed two hours. So as I tried to sleep on the benches with non-removeable arm rests I was disturbed by an announcement around 8AM notifying me that the plane was at JFK airport due to mechanical issues and they were getting us another one. It took another couple of hours just to get the new airplane to Newark and when it arrived we started to board only to sit and get comfortable so we could get back off because the pilot was sick. So another 90mins they said for a replacement pilot. At this time we were all tired and very very mean so they gave us some food vouchers that only worked at the few restaurants that were opened at the time and that were near the gate. That included just a food cart that charged way to much for day old salad. Finally after that we were ready to board and this time they moved to a new gate only to find out that boarding ramp did not fit our plane. After some yelling and arguing they were able to hook it up to the middle door and we got on as we watched our step. We took off at about 11:30AM, 13 hours later. The in-flight movie did not work and we lost a day on the beach. Good thing I was able to get a massage the next day.
That was the only bad part of the trip. The weather was perfect except for a little wind and tons of free food. What was really interesting was that there were no walls on any of the buidlings. Not even the airport.

I met Justin for the first time on this trip. I work with his nice lady friend, and we got to know each other a little during our stay in the DR. The end result? We are so going to rumble. He better look out, because I’m so going to bring it.
And it was Justin’s fault the plane was late. Our original captain refused to pilot a plane carrying a hipster.

Katie I will definitely tell you more about trip for sure when I get some time. I plan on adding more photos as I get them from other people that where on the trip.
